Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata Cum Melle and Gypsum Fibrosum were considered as 4 factors
12 different allocated proportions of Maxing Shigan decoction was designed.Rats were randomly divided in to 15 groups
including Maxin Shigan decoction group N1-N12
original group
normal group and model group. The fever model was established by injecting lippolysaccharide (LPS) through the tail vein. The temperature was recoreded once every 0.5 hour
and therml response index(TRI) was calculated. After 6 hours
the plasma concentrations of prostaglandin E2(PGE2) were detected. The regression analysis was used for data analysis. Result: Compared with the model group
the compatibility group could inhibit the fever induced by LPS
which showed a significant significance (P<0.01);the decrease of PGE2 levels in plasma and temperature reaction index were found with different degrees. The results of regression analysis showed that the influence of four factors on the TRI was Gypsum Fibrosum >Ephedrae Herba >the interaction of Armeniacae Semen Amarum and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata Cum Melle. Conclusion: The results showed that the influence of Gypsum Fibrosum on the antipyretic effect of Maxin Shigan decoction was most important. The optimal proportion was Ephedrae Herba 0.6 g
