Objective:To review the research progress in Baoji pills’ chemical compositions and pharmacological effects in recent years

to provide bases for the future studies of Baoji pills.Method:By investigating references on Baoji pills in recent decades

the pharmacological effects of antibacterial

anti-inflammatory

analgesic

anti-diarrhea and on gastrointestinal functions of Baoji pills

the main chemical components of the single herb in the pills and the drug-pairs based on Baoji pills are summarized.Result:More than nine kind ingredients with antibacterial

anti-inflammatory effects are found the Baoji pills.More than five kinds of components which have a moderate effect of analgesic and anti-diarrhea

and for disorders of the gastrointestinal tract are also found.The drug-pairs with pharmacological enhancing effects in Baoji pills are nine pairs.Conclusion:The Baoji pills’pharmacological effects and chemical constituents corresponds its traditional clinical applications.The recent research progress in Baoji pills will benefit the further development and utilization of the pills.
