Objective:To study the influence of different compatibilities between Coptidis Rhizoma and Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex on dissolution of honokiol and magnolol.Method:High performance liquid chromatography was used to determine the content of honokiol and magnolol in all decoctions of Coptidis Rhizoma and Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex.Result:The maximum content of honokiol and magnolol was extrated when the ratio of Coptis to Magnolia was 1∶ 3 and 1∶ 1 respectively.The maximun total content of both components was extracted when the ratio was 1∶ 1 and the minimum when the ratio was 2∶ 1.Conclusion:Different compatibilities ratios between Coptidis Rhizoma and Magnolia Officinalis Cortex affected the dissolution of honokiol and magnolol
and it was probably related to the berberine alkaloids in Coptidis Rhizoma.
