Objective:To observe the effects of Fufang Shanju on vital organs and uric acid in spontaneous hypertension rats(SHR).Method: Thirty-five male SHR aged 16-weeks were randomly divided into SHR group(distilled water 5 mL·kg-1)
high medium and low(0.45
0.15
0.05 g·kg-1) dose groups of Fufang Shanju
Captopril(0.03 g·kg-1) positive control group(n=7 each).Moreover
7 WKY rats were used as normal control group(distilled water 5 mL·kg-1).SHR were intragastrically administrated once daily in 16 weeks.After the last adminstration
they were weighed
taken blood from abdominal aorta
detected hepatic and renal function and uric acid in the blood plasma.Hearts
livers and kidneys were taken
weighed and calculated organ coefficient.Result: Compared with model group
the left ventricle coefficient for the medium and low dose groups of Fufang Shanju and the whole-heart and left ventricle coefficient of high dose group were significantly lower(P<0.05).There were no obvious effects on hepatic and renal function in each dose group of Fufang Shanju.However
plasma uric acid showed decrease in dose-dependent manner(P<0.01 or P<0.05).Conclusion: Fufang Shanju can improve cardiac hypertrophy and reduce uric acid in blood plasma of SHR.Also
there are no obvious effects of hepatic and renal function.Captopril shows no effect on reducing plasma uric acid.
