Objective:To study the effects of Huanglian Jiedu Decoction(HJD) on blood lipid and oxygen radical metabolism in experimental hyperlipidemia rats.Method: Fifty SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group
untreated group
lipitor group(0.2 mg·kg-1)
and low-and high-dose HJD group(6
12 g·kg-1).Except the normal control group
rats in the other groups were fed with high fat diet for 15 days to induce hyperlipidemia. Then the rats were administered with corresponding drugs for 8 weeks. After treatment
the serum levels of total cholesterol(TC)
triacylglycerol(TAG)
low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) were assayed. The activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) and the level of malondialdehyde(MDA) were measured. The histological changes in liver tissues were observed.Result: Compared with the untreated group
HJD could significantly decrease the serum levels of TC
TG
LDL-C and MDA
increase the serum level of HDL-C and the activities ofSOD and GSH-Px
and relieve the fatty degeneration of hepatic cells. Conclusion: HJD has the potential effect to regulate the lipid metabolism of hyperlipidemia rats
increase antioxidant activity and improve the histopathological injury of the liver.
