Objective:To investigate the hypoglycemic effect and its action mechanism of persimmon leaf polysaccharide in diabetic mice induced by streptozotocin(STZ).Method:The diabetic mice were induced by STZ.Mice were randomly divided into 5 groups:control group
model group
glibenclamide group(25 mg·kg-1·d-1)
low and high dose groups of persimmon leaf polysaccharide(150 mg·kg-1·d-1
600 mg·kg-1·d-1).The drugswere administrated to mice in every morning for 15 days.In the corresponding time
the contents of fasting blood glu-cose(FBG)
fasting insulin(FINS)
malondialdehyde(MDA)
superoide dismutase(SOD)activity
insulin sensi-tivity index(ISI)and oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT)were determined.Result:The persimmon leaf polysaccha-ride could markedly decrease blood glucose in STZ-induced diabetic mice.Meanwhile it could reduce the content ofMDA and increase the activity of SOD in liver
and increase insulin sensitivity index(ISI)and the amount of isletcells. Conclusion:The persimmon leaf polysaccharide decreases blood glucose
and it has a very potential value inthe treatment of diabetes.
