Objective:To study the proliferation and function in human embryonic hepatocytes treated by Adiantum reniforme L.var.sinense Y.X.Lin extracts.Method: Human embryonic hepatocytes L-O2 104in culture were treated for 24 h with 1 g·mL-1 the aqueous extract solution.The cell proliferation was measured by the MTT assay.The albumin secretion was detected by the bromcresol green colorimetry.The activity of lactate dehydrogenase（LDH） in culturalmedia were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.Result: The extracts promoted the cell proliferation with dose-dependent.At drug concentration in 100 g·L-1

the aqueous extract solution increase the secretion of albumin to 2.14 g·L-1

and decreased LDH activity.Conclusion: The extract of A.reniforme can promote the hepatic proliferation and function.
