Objective:To investigate the hypotensive effects of Jiangya Prescription
a Zhuang folk herbal medicine
on spontaneous hypertensive rats(SHR).Method: Forty SHRs were randomly divided into five groups
untreated control
the high(2.0 g·kg-1)
middle(1.0 g·kg-1)
low(0.5 g·kg-1)-dosage groups of extract from Jiangya Prescription and captopril group(10 mg·kg-1)
with 8 rats in each group.Wistar-Kyoto rats were used as the blank group.Tail blood pressure was measured every week.Rats were sacrificed to determine serum nitric oxide(NO)
endothelin(ET)
angiotensinogen Ⅱ(AngⅡ) after six weeks of treatment.Result: The extract of Jiangya Prescription could significantly lower blood pressure
meanwhile significantly increase NO content
decrease markedly the content of ET and AngⅡ.There were significant differences with untreated control group(P<0.05
P<0.01).Conclusion: The extract from Jiangya Prescription had a significantly hypotensive effect to SHR.Its mechanism may be related to up-regulation of NO and down-regulation of ET and Ang II.
