Objective:To optimize extraction technology of total flavones from the roots of Clerodendrum japonicum in Guangxi and establish its content determination method.Method:Orthogonal experiments were used to optimize extraction technology.Rutin was defined as the standard and UV method was adopted.The detective wavelength was at 506 nm.Result:The linearity was in the range of 8.584-51.504 mg·L-1(r=0.999 4).The average recovery rate was 100.11% with RSD of 0.24%.Optimum conditions of ultrasonics extraction were as follow:extracted with 15 times the amount of 50% ethanol in 1.5 hour.Conclusion:High effciency extraction method and accurate and reproducable content determination method of total flavones from the roots of C.japonicum has been estabished
