Objective:To invastigate the site of analgesic effect of the total saponin from Thladiantha dubia root（TSRT）.Method: Kunming mice 120 were devided into formalin test and improved Randall-Selitto method grougs

TSRT of 120

60 mg·kg-1 significantly lowered the pain score of the second phase（P<0.05 vs NS group）

but there is no effect on the pain score of the first phase（P>0.05 vs NS group）

TSRT of 240 mg·kg-1 lowered both the pain scores of the first phase and second phase（P<0.05-0.01 vs NS group）.In imoroved Randall-Selitto method in mice

TSRT markedly increased the pain threshold value on inflammation foot（P<0.01 vs NS group）

but pain threshold value in normal foot did not obviously elevated（P>0.05 vs NS group）.Conclusion: The site of analgesic effect of TSRT is mainly located in the periphery.
