Objective: To investigate the effect of Baiweijian(BWJ) on the blood rheology and spinal nerve conduction velocity(SNCV) in streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats. Method: STZ induce diabetic rats were randomly divided into diabetic model group(1.97 mg·kg-1·d-1)
Mecobalamin group(5.3
21.2 g·kg-1·d-1
ig)
BWJ low dose group
and BWJ high dose group. The levels of blood rheology and spinal nerve conduction velocity of the animals were checked after 4 weeks' treatment. Result: The weight
tail heat sensitivity SNCV obviously changed
as well as the expression levels of pain-related proteins of spinal nerve
compared with normal group
the SNCV of model group decreased significantly after 4 weeks'(P<0.05). Compared with diabetic model group
the SNCV of Mecobalamin group significantly increased after 4 weeks' treatment (P<0.05). Compared with diabetic model group
the SNCV of low
and high dose BWJ groups had significantly improved after 4 weeks' treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion: BWJ can reduce the blood sugar
SNCV and increase the expression levels of pain-related proteins of spinal nerve in STZ induced diabetic rats. And BWJ has good cure functionon diabetic peripheral neuropathy. It may be one of the mechanisms on control of peripheral neuropathy.
