Objective: To observe the effects of Wuzi Chengqi decoction on hyperuricemia rats. Method: Sixty SD male rats were divided randomly into 6 groups: normal control

ig respectively.After 4 weeks of modeling
the rats in each group of serum uric acid (UA)
blood urea nitrogen (BUN)
serum creatinine(SCr)
xanthine oxidase (XOD)
urinary UA and renal indices were examined. Result: Compared with normal group
UA in urine was decreaed
while UA

Cre and BUN in serum were increased significantly (P<0.01). The content of urine uric acid of low
middle and high dose groups were (146.3±22.5)
(202.2±53.8)
(218.1±62.6) μmol· L-1 respectively
which was significantly higher than those of the model group (89.8±27.1)μmol· L-1(P<0.01
P<0.05). The content of serum uric acid of low
middle and high dose groups were (207.3±42.5)
(177.1±50.5)
(158.0±49.0)μmol· L-1 respectively
which was significantly lower than those of the model group(285.0±54.1)μmol· L-1(P<0.01
P<0.05).Wuzi Chengqi decoction also could significantly inhibited the serum XOD activity
decrease the content of serum SCr and BUN(P<0.01
P<0.05). Conclusion: Wuzi Chengqi decoction has good preventive and therapeutic effect on hyperuricemia rats induced by adenine and potassium oxonate.
