Objective: To develop methodology for significant discrimination of different groups of Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix based on 1H-NMR analysis combined with principal component analysis (PCA). Method: Five groups of Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix were extracted by the same method
1H-NMR spectra were obtained using a 400 MHz NMR spectrometer.Then data were analyzed by hierarchical cluster analysis and PCA. Result: Different groups of Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix could be discriminated by hierarchical cluster analysis.Furthermore
6 principal components were extracted in PCA
their cumulative contribution rate was 98.9%
and loading plot of PC1 and PC2 explained 76.9% of the original variance. Conclusion: 1H-NMR combined with PCA is an effective method for discrimination of Chinese medicines
its pre-treatment is convenient
therefore it can be used as a valuable means for discrimination of different groups of herbal medicines.
