Objective: The chemical constituents of Rubia genus were summarized to provide scientific and theoretical basis for development this genus. Method: The literatures of chemical components study on Rubia genus were collected by retrieval database of CNKI
Wiley Online and ScienceDirect
and were consulted and summarized. Result: Rubia genus were one of natural plant resources of the world with earlier development and application. Furthermore
many pharmacological activities of the genus such as anti-microbial
anti-tumor and anti-oxidant have been reported. Previous phytochemical investigations have described the presence of 175 compounds in the genus
among of which about 70 ones are anthraquinones
along with naphthoquinones
bicyclic hexapeptides
terpenes and so on. Conclusion: Chemical components were summarized to provide scientific basis to develop valuable natural products from Rubia.
