Objective:To summarize the prescription rules of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) for treating chronic heart failure in CNKI based on TCM inheritance platform (V2.5) software. Method:We collected the literature about TCM prescriptions for treating chronic heart failure from CNKI

established a prescription database by Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Platform System

and figured out the prescription rules. Result:Totally 101 prescriptions were collected in the treatment of chronic heart failure

and 131 herbs were used. Among them

the medicines for invigorating Qi and warming Yang

promoting urination

promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis were frequently used. The most frequently used drug combination was Astragalus Mongholicus-Semen Lepidiies

which appeared for 40 times

evolving into 16 core medicine combinations and 8 new prescriptions. Conclusion:TCM prescriptions for chronic heart failure are mainly to warm Yang and invigorate Qi

induce diuresis and alleviate edema

promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis

which reveals the prescription rules

and provides the reference for the clinical treatment.
