Objective: To establish a rapid and environmentally-friendly method to determine the moisture content in Ligustri Lucidi Fructus by using near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) combined with partial least squares (PLS). Method: The reference values of water content in samples were obtained by oven-drying method
and the near infrared spectral data of the samples was collected by Nicolet 6700 NIR spectrograph. Then the quantitative analysis model of moisture content in Ligustri Lucidi Fructus was established by partial least square (PLS) and this model was validated by unknown samples. Result: The correlation coefficient of cross-validation (R2) of the established quantitative model for moisture content was 0.98687;the root-mean-square error of calibration (RMSEC) was 0.199;the root-mean-square error of cross-validation (RMSECV) was 0.24641.The validation set prediction correlation coefficient (R2) was 0.9566
and the root-mean-square error of prediction (RMSEP) was 0.220. Conclusion: This method is simple
rapid
accurate
and non-polluting to determine the content of moisture in Ligustri Lucidi Fructus.
