Objective: To investigate the clinical effects of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) experienced prescription in assisting western medicine for premature ovarian failure. Method: The 120 patients with premature ovarian failure were chosen in the period from March 2014 to March 2015 in Hangzhou TCM Hospital and randomly divided into control group (60 cases) with estrogenic
and progesterone sequential therapy alone and TCM group (60 cases) with TCM experienced prescription (from Professor XIA Gui-cheng) on the basis of control group. Clinical efficacy
Kupperman scores and serum hormone levels before and after treatment of both groups were compared. Result: The total effective rate was 60.00% and 81.67% respectively in control group and TCM group
clinical efficacy of TCM group was significantly better than that of control group (P<0.05). Kupperman score after treatment in TCM group was significantly superior to that before treatment and that in control group (P<0.05). Levels of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)
luteinizing hormone (LH)
estradiol (E2) and anti-Mullerian hormon (AMH) in TCM group after treatment were significantly better than those before treatment and those in control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: TCM experienced prescription in assisting western medicine for premature ovarian failure can efficiently alleviate clinical symptoms and signs
promote the recovery of menstrual cycle and is helpful to improve serum hormone levels.
