Objective: To develop a method for content determination of total saponins in garlic extract. Method : Timosaponin A Ⅲ was used as a reference substance
and vanillin-perchloric acid was applied as coloring reagent to determine the content of total saponins. Result : The calibration curve of timosaponin A Ⅲ showed good linearity in the range of 20.16-181.44 μg
and the regression equation was Y=4.839 6X+0.066 6
r=0.999 5.The average recovery rate was 100.6%
and RSD was 1.5%. Conclusion : The determination method is simple
sensitive and accurate
which can be used for evaluating the quality of total saponins in the garlic extract
