We synthesized the relevant data of Huanglian Jiedu Tang and its components on the effect of cholesterol lowing and anti-atherosclerosis.Methods: we review the reports for recent 10 years.Having referred to the latest achievement

we systemly studied the potential advantage and mechanism of Huanglian Jiedu Tang on lowing cholesterol and anti-atherosclerosis.Results: The data of clinic and research indicated that Huanglian Jiedu Tang can not only reduce the concentration of cholesterol in hepatocyte

but also have the effect for treating the risk factor of atherosclerosis.Conclusion: Huanglian Jiedu Tang and its components have some distinct or potential effects on cholesterol lowing and anti-atherosclerosis.The mechanism will be required to future study using modern technology and strategy in order to expand the extent of clinic application.
