Objective: To study the percutaneous absorption of strychnine in Shangke spray in vitro. Method: The transdermal permeation tests of strychnine in Shangke sprays were performed through excised rats skin in Franz diffusion cells. Strychnine concentration was determined by HPLC. Result: Strychnine can penetrate through rat skin. The permeation rate and the lag time were 0.015 3 mg ·cm-2 ·h-1 and 0.235 h respectively. Conclusion: The research provides experimental data for the design of Shangke sprays.
